There’s hardly a bad time to visit Andros since the Mediterranean climate is generally mild year-round and there are advantages to almost any season or time of year in Greece. That being said, July and August are the warmest months, but also the most crowded. I would suggest you not visit Andros specifically for hiking in July and August cause It’s very hot and not ideal for any kind of outdoor acivities.
The best time to come hiking in Andros are the months of May, June, September, and October.
Andros is situated relatively close to Attica. Therefore, it is easily accessible by ferry from the port of Rafina. There are no airports on the island. Rafina port is located relatively close to Athens International Airport “Eleftherios Venizelos”.
I rented an economy car from Explore Andros that allowed me to reach all the Trailheads and organize my day hikes. I also booked specific and short private transfers that were needed on some day hikes.
If you want to follow my hiking itinerary and explore Andros ideally, I’d suggest you rent a car or book private transfers to each trailhead since there is no organized transportation system on the island.
I picked and chose my favorite day hikes of Andros. If you are planning to stay longer and hike more, I would suggest you to visit Andros Routes. Below you can discover each hike and find all the technical info so you can do them by yourself.
